About Zichron Shlome

We are already in our third decade of helping patients and their families. For most of us, this represents a significantly long stretch of time. For those who are familiar with the wonderful work of Zichron Shlome Refuah Fund, it represents a tremendous milestone. Twenty two years ago, young Shlome Ziegler O”H was niftar. He had succumbed to the ravages of his dreaded disease. But his parents remembered his last request and decided to act upon it.

“Tatty,” he said. “Please don’t forget me, do something in my name.” So Avrohom and Raizy Ziegler set out to do just that. Together, they were determined to make a difference. They began with an idea- to help other people who found themselves in situations similar to theirs. They would start an organization that would offer all kinds of assistance to those who were struggling with devastating illness. They would fund whatever was needed-hospital and doctor bills, insurance, rent and utilities, tuition, housekeeping, airfare and transportation, hotel and camp getaways, wigs, cell phones, a DVD library, and Fulfill-A-Dream. They would also provide a shoulder to cry on. They would name this organization the Zichron Shlome Refuah Fund.

Fast forward twenty two years, and Zichron Shlome is now a household word. Those who support its services are confident that their contributions are being earmarked for vital assistance for the seriously ill. Those who are dealing with illness know it’s a welcoming address for them to turn to for comfort when they need to wipe away their tears. Today, the Zichron Shlome Refuah Fund is a major chessed organization serving hundreds of Jewish families around the globe. The establishment of Zichron Shlome proves to us all that nobody should ever suffer alone. When one family is experiencing hardships, we all share their pain. Zichron Shlome pioneered the movement and taught us all how to open our hearts and how to care. And for that, we are all indebted to them. By opening your heart, you can make the difference.

If tomorrow starts without me
And I'm not there to see
If the sun should rise
And find my eyes
All filled with tears for me
I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today
We're all thinking of the many things
We didn't get to say
I know how much you love me
As much as I love you
And each time you think of me
I know you miss me too
We've been through trying times
Together you and I
We laughed so hard it hurt
There was hardly time to cry
You gave me your heart
And took care of all my cares
You squeezed my hand in yours
And caught my many tears
Your shouldered my burden
As if it were your own
And understood my fears
So I never felt alone
So if tomorrow starts without me
And I'm not there to say
Remember- Zichron Shlome
I'm thinking of you everyday.
